Santa Luzia
Santa Luzia
Abandoned by the last inhabitant in the late 1960s due to the absence of water, Santa Luzia is the uninhabited island of Cape Verde. The south of the island is almost flat with dunes of sand while in the north the volcanic origin of the island is shown. All this makes it a beautiful island full of contrasts: deserted and black but with white beaches and sand dunes, surrounded by the clearest sea in which underwater life abounds. In 1990 the Government of Cape Verde declared it as a state-owned nature reserve.
